What is Maitland therapy?

Maitland technique is a manual technique conducted by highly trained physiotherapists that have been educated in the Maitland approach.

It is a concept which includes a large number of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal tests used to find the cause of the problem, and therefore the solution. The unique Maitland clinical reasoning makes it one of the best and most reputable techniques in the world.

Meet The Maitland Lecturer – Gerti Bucher – Dollenz

Gerti Bucher Maitland level 2

She obtained her diploma in physiotherapy in Klagenfurt, Austria, in 1983. After working in Austria for a short period, she moved to Switzerland, where she has worked in several hospitals and rehab centers, spending ten years working in the famous Valens rehab center.  She got her MA in Physiotherapy in 1992, from the University of Adelaide, Australia. The following year, she became an IMTA Maitland lecturer.

She is also an honorary member of the Neuro-orthopaedic Institute, and currently holds a private practice in Heiligkreuz, Switzerland, while teaching at seminars across Europe. In 2009, she became a senior Maitland lecturer. Her special interests include  neuropathic pain and manual therapy integration into treatment of neurological patients.
